With heavy hearts, we remember and honor Bruce Whicker, the founder of Whick’s Electro Freeze Distributors of Texas, and the man whose vision, hard work, and kindness laid the foundation for the company we are today.

In 1973, Bruce started Whick’s with determination, a strong work ethic, and a passion for the Electro Freeze equipment he came to know so well. As one of the very first distributors for Electro Freeze, Bruce helped establish a company that would become a trusted name in the industry and a fixture in the Texas business community.

In those early days, Bruce didn’t simply sell the machines—he worked on them himself. He knew the equipment inside and out and developed a reputation for being one of the very best technicians in the business. His knowledge, skill, and determination earned the respect of customers and fellow industry professionals alike. If Bruce worked on a machine, people knew it was in good hands.

One of the stories that will always be part of the Whick’s legacy is that Bruce personally sold Sonic their very first Electro Freeze machine. What may have seemed like one sale at the time became a small part of a much larger story—one that would span decades and help shape the business of Whick’s.

But Bruce’s legacy cannot be measured by machines sold, repairs completed, or years spent in business.

His greatest legacy was the man he was.

Bruce was known for his generous heart, his kindness, and his willingness to help others. He cared about people. He cared about his customers. He cared about his employees. And he cared deeply about the company he had built.

He loved what he did.

Even after all the years, Bruce rarely missed a day at the office. His dedication was remarkable. The company wasn’t simply a business to him—it was something he had poured his time, energy, and heart into building. Bruce taught us that success isn’t only about building a business. It is about building relationships, trust, a reputation, and something that can outlive you.

For more than five decades, his name has been part of the Whick’s story. The values he brought to the company—hard work, honesty, craftsmanship, generosity, and taking care of people—will continue to guide us.

Today, we say goodbye to our founder, our mentor, and a truly remarkable man.

We are grateful for the countless lives he touched, the customers he served, the people he helped, and the example he left behind.

Bruce may no longer walk through the doors of Whick’s, but his presence will remain in the company he built, in the people he influenced, and in every customer we continue to serve.

Whick’s Electro Freeze Distributors of Texas will carry on his legacy.

And we will continue to build upon the foundation Bruce started in 1973.

Because that is what he would have wanted.
